Platform presentation and history

Euromed+ is a project supported by French Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and the 5+5 Education, Vocational Education and Training group. It has been recognized by the regional stakeholders as a favorable tool to enhance cooperation in the field of vocational training. The project partners are the 5+5 members countries, that is to say France, Spain, Portugal, Italia, Malta, Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Lybia and Tunisia. Nevertheless every country from the Euro-Mediterranean area can be part of it.

Why is it important to create a platform on vocational training?

There is a real need, recognized by all the stakeholders, concerning vocational training and employability of young people in the Mediterranean area. This is particularly true in regard of the transitional context, the political and economic reforms on both shores of the Mediterranean sea.

Moreover, in the current context of migration crisis, the Euromed+ platform by helping to improve the vocational training systems could participate to the rebalancing of the Euro-Mediterranean dynamics.

Who is the Euromed+ platform for?

The Euromed+ platform addresses both the stakeholders of the vocational education and training (VET centers, schools, teachers, directors of VET centers) and anyone who wants to get to know more about initial vocational education and training in the Euromediterranean area, for instance for someone looking for a training.

Euromed+ in a first stage, will only take into consideration the European Qualification Framework (EQF) level 4 and 5, that is to say technicians and higher technicians (to have more information about this EQF : https://ec.europa.eu/ploteus/sites/eac-eqf/files/leaflet_fr.pdf). A special attention is given to eleven priority economic sectors, according to regional economic needs. These sectors are :

- Car and aeronautical maintenance.

- Mechanics, mechatronics

- Digital professions

- Building and public works

- Tourism, hotel and restaurant

- Transports

- Energy and attractive industries

- Agriculture and food industry

- Environment and sustainable development

- Maritime professions

- Health and sanitary

What is the Euromed+ project about?

1. Centralize the available information sources on Vocational Education

In order to develop a comprehensive tool of information on vocational training, the websites of the national relevant actors will be identified and listed. This list of website will be useful for the trainees, the trainers and for head teachers and will meet a regional interest.

2. Recognise and promote cooperation agreements between VET centres

This is a twofold objective: on one hand, the project aims to list the existing twinning agreements for each sector of activity in order to promote and exchange the best practices in the involved countries. On the other hand, the Euromed+ platform will facilitate the creation of new twinning projects through a training cooperation database and thus, the training operators will have the possibility to communicate and build new training partnerships and cooperation agreements.

3. Enhance the employability of young people in vocational training

This objective is run in collaboration with the project “Semsem” (http://semsem-stages.uvt.rnu.tn/). The SemSem platform is devoted to three main axes: a digital library available for all; a section dedicated to the relationship between the internship opportunities of the companies and the traineeship request of the student; and a section dedicated to the internship follow-up.

The Euromed+ project, a project supported by the Erasmus+ French Agency and by the 5+5 Education, Vocational Education and Training group

Erasmus+ France / Education and Training

The Erasmus+ France / Education & Training Agency in France is mandated by the European Commission since 1995 to promote and manage several European programmes. This is the only national agency in charge of the Erasmus+ programme.

These programmes aim to enable all citizens to acquire new skills relevant to a career in the fields of education and vocational training.

The new Erasmus+ programme framework brings together the Lifelong Learning Program (Leonardo, Comenius, Grundtvig, Erasmus and Jean Monnet actions), Youth in Action and five other international programs including Erasmus Mundus and Tempus into one single, simplified and modern program.

5+5 Education, Vocational Education and Training group

The “5+5” education is a forum where the Ministers of the ten countries from the euro-mediterranean zone meet: the five countries of the Arab Maghreb Union: Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, and Tunisia; and five countries of the European Union: France, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Spain. The secretary if the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) is the operator entrusted with the implementation of the 5+5 resolutions.
